    Getting the Word Out:

Promotion Basics for Writers with Caitlin Hamilton Summie

“This workshop is an invaluable primer for any author who feels overwhelmed at the prospect of marketing a new book. Caitlin Hamilton Summie’s suggestions are thorough, practical, direct and essential for those who are new to the world of book promotion as well as those needing a refresher course.” – Caroline Patterson, Missoula

These days, agents want authors to have “platforms.” Once accepted for publication, authors are expected to assist with publicity. But how? Veteran book publicity/marketing expert Hamilton Summie walks writers through the basics of book publicity—the publication landscape, what a platform is, defining your audience—to help you create and celebrate your writing successes. (This workshop is aimed at authors who haven't yet released a book, but can also be helpful for those with new books in the works.)

The Montana Arts Council is proud to host Hamilton Summie for this online workshop, offered twice, for Montana writers. There is no cost to attend, but space is limited, and participants must be over 18 years old. Dates are:

    May 16th, 12 noon – 1:30 PM

    May 22nd, 6:00 – 7:30 pm

If you're interested in registering, please email brian.moody2@mt.gov
